The Wave Campaign 2009

Achievement headlines

Successful SU Campaigns

Resits

LSE’s Resists policy is unacceptable – students are seeking a fairer policy.

- ACHIEVED! After 834 postcards were signed by students, and elected officers met with 20 Heads of Department, the School have, for the first time, agreed to look at the issue for the coming year.

Wednesday Afternoons Free

In order to take part in extra-curricular activities, it is essential that ALL students have their Wednesday afternoon’s free.

- ACHIEVED! This year we achieved a significant reduction in the number of classes scheduled on a Weds afternoon. There will be increased info for students on how to swap classes. The result is that more post-grad students will be able to take part.

Rent Guarantor Scheme

Before 2010/11, international and home students who could not provide large amounts of money in advance rent were shut out of decent accommodation. This was unfair and forced students into poorer accommodation.

- ACHIEVED! LSE has agreed to implement a rent-guaranteeing scheme to continuing students which means that international students will find it easier to find decent accommodation.

General Election 2010

Students were registered to vote, and we took part in NUS’s Vote For Students campaign which was influential in the national vote. 450 students took part in the all-night General Election Party held in the Quad!
